Inaugurated on November 7, 1998, in the
last official site of a station in order to give honor and recognition
to the first and second Railroad stations of Torreon.
Torreon is a young city, located in the a semi-desert area of Mexico.
Having arrived in Torreon in 1883, the railroad was an indispensable
element to denote the progress of the Lagunera Region. Therefore,
this region had to be conceived and developed around the railroad.
The museum shows:
* The steam locomotive 1140, which served for many decades benefiting
thousands of users of the National Railroads of Mexico.
* A room of exhibitions that consists of: fantasy scale models,
equipped with trains that have a very attractive route; two scale
models of the first railroad stations of Torreon; work instruments
that were used in the different departments of National Railroads
of Mexico, sequenced photographs that show the development of the
railroad in the world, as well as railroad facilities of the Torreon
Division; there are also photos of the people who made possible,
here in our city, the operation of such an important company.
* A camping car, reproduces the atmosphere in which workers and
their families lived while building or developing the iron paths.
* A forging or blacksmith shop, where pieces and ironworks were
produced for the correct installation of the routes and for reinforcing
railroad cars.
* A Science wagon, where information about the fascinating world
of science are given.
